Is HP Prepping a new line of Mobile Devices?

hp-ipaq-514 I don?t know, but some people say there are. According to NaviGadget, HP is planning on a whole new line of devices.  I hope this is an accurate rumor, but we?ll see when the time come eh?

The source says that the smartphone the HP recently launched is the 500 series and the other devices are as follows:

  • 100 Series: the substitute of old the rz1710. Entry range PDA with no phone but at for a very low price
  • 200 Series: PDA/PND (autonomous GPS) hybrids, replacing the range iPAQ rx57/59
  • 300 Series: devices dedicated to business professionals and equipped with a VGA screen (replacing ancestral the iPAQ hx4700)
  • 500 Series: medium range smartphones
  • 600 Series: 3G PDA phones equipped with keyboard and integrated GPS. An alternative to series 900, with a different design.
  • 900 Series: the true successor of the HP iPAQ hw6915. Expected to have powerful features specially designed for business users such as keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS.

I would love to see HP get back into the saddle. Hell, I?d like to see Dell get in the saddle period.

Now Shipping - HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger

ipaq510 The iPaq 510 is now shipping. This thing has been one of the slowest launches i?ve ever seen, but at least most of the world forgot about it with all the iPhone hype, so it didn?t see too long. I had the opportunity to play with one at CTIA in Orlando back in March and it was decent. The price seems a bit high at $319. It does have Windows Mobile 6, but it?s just a smartphone in the shell of a regular old candybar phone.

Here?s what Cnet had to say about the iPAQ 510?

The good: The HP iPaq 510 Voice Messenger features advanced voice-command functions and the new Windows Mobile 6 operating system with enhanced e-mail functions and Office Mobile tools. The smart phone also has a compact design, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and VoIP capabilities.

The bad: Unfortunately, the iPaq 510?s speakerphone quality was subpar, and there is no support for 3G. The phone?s keypad and navigation controls also are cramped, and it has a lower resolution screen.

The bottom line: Despite some niggling design flaws and the lack of 3G support, the HP iPaq 510 Voice Messenger offers outstanding voice-command features as well as the enhanced productivity tools of Windows Mobile 6.

Reviewed - Hewlett Packard iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger

The 1st Smartphone from HP gets scored by TrustedReviews. An 8/10 overall. Now, I have never really been a fan of this particular author?s reviews, but its a good read either way. If you are considering purchasing this phone from HP, read this review 1st.

?Although not aimed primarily at consumers it may well be that the price and the strong reputation of Hewlett Packard mean the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger enjoys some success with this market. Certainly HP has shown with its first Windows Mobile Smartphone that it knows how to construct an easy to use device with some very handy features.?
